CONCOURS COMPLET INTERNATIONAL*** et CIC**
DU 17 AU 20 MAI 2012

CCI 3* : Christopher Burton and Haruzac take the lead
The dressage test started on Thursday afternoon and was dominated by the Australian combination of Christopher Burton and Haruzac who received a score of 47.20. Winners of the 2010 Adelaide CCI 2*, the combination could have been pushed out of first place by Giovanni Ugolotti (Italy) with Stormhill Kossack, whose impulsion seduced the judges. The Italian combination received a provisional score of 47.40.

The third place was another Australian, Bill Levett (2nd in 2011 with One Two Many). Riding Hippolyte, he left the Prince Albert arena with a score of 49.20. The best placed French combination was in 4th place: Fabrice Lucas with Keep du Mesnil. The dressage will continue on Friday. Amongst other combinations we are waiting for Laura Collet (GB) and Rayef, Mark Todd (NZL) and Grass Valley, Andrew Nicholson (NZL) and Quimbo, Christopher Burton (AUS) and Holstein Park Leilani, Clayton Fredericks (AUS) and Walterstown Don, Bill Levett (AUS) and One Two Many, Karin Donckers (BEL) and SS Jett, Jean-Lou Bigot (FRA) and Lotus de Gobaude, Fabrice Lucas (FRA) and Nero du Jardin and Donatien Schauly (FRA) and Pivoine des Touches.

CIC 2* : Karin Donckers and Lamicell Charizard in the lead
It was pretty chilly on Thursday morning when the CIC 2* dressage test started at Verrie racecourse.

The first day was dominated by the Belgian champion Karin Donckers and her experienced horse Lamicell Charizard (the stallion notably won the CCI 3* at Vejer de la Frontera in 2010 and was fourth in the Pau CCI 4* in the same year). The combination had a provisional score of 37.80. A French combination is in second place with a mark of 39.60: Bertrand Vuatoux with Quirikou Bougaux, an 8 year old selle français who started competing at CIC 2* this year. Julien Despontin (BEL) and Waldano 36 are third with a provisional score of 43.70. We are waiting to see some serious contenders for victory in the racecourse dressage arena on Friday and notably the winning combination from 2011, Nicolas Touzaint (FRA) and Hildago de l’Ile (winners of the Badminton CCI 4* in 2008), Véronique Real (FRA) and Pouchkine d’Arcy (3rd in 2011), the three times champion of France Donatien Schauly (FRA) and Séculaire, Didier Dhennin (FRA) and Must des Sureaux, or once more the New Zealander Mark Todd and Leonidas II.

Let the party begin !
If most of the competitors were safely at the hippodrome de Verrie on Tuesday, the last lorries arrived on Wednesday morning.

By the time the horses were ready and looking their best, it was already the moment for the first inspection of the horses in the CIC 2* and the CCI 3* by the jury. The inspection went smoothly for all the competitors, except for the Spaniard Sofia Corsini Furhmann. Her horse KWPN Urbanis M was not authorized to start in the CIC 2*.

The CIC 2* dressage test starts tomorrow morning at 10.00 am at the race course and the CCI 3* starts at 14.30 pm in the Prince Albert arena.

72 combinations are starting the CIC 2* abd 52 combinations are starting the CCI 3*.
